Problems in Cardinal Town

  • Two time pro bowler Kyler Murray is entering his final contact year and wants to get paid.
  • Murray is getting paid on average 8 million a year and is seeking a gigantic bag
  • Murray is expected to take home around 5 mill this year and isn’t too happy about it
  • Hell, I would be too. Dad Prescott has a 4 year 160 million dollar contract with 126 million guaranteed.
  • Dak is expected to make around 20 million this year alone.

Kyler hasn’t even been Offered to my knowledge a comparable contract.

  • I mean, Murray has thrown for 24 touchdowns this year
  • He’s explosive
  • He a pro bowl player
  • He helped the Cardinals get to their first playoff season since 2015

How many QBs would you choose over Kyler?

  • Carson Wentz…Jalen Hurts? Nah
  • Kyler is that guy. He’s fast and has an arm.
  • You need a guy like Kyler.
  • It would be foolish of the Cardinals to drop Kyler.
  • Only a top 5 QB could step in at QB for the Cardinals to get it done and I don’t see that happening

So as for as the bag, what are we looking at?

  • The Josh Allens, Dak Prescotts, Deshaun Watsons, and Patrick Mahomes are making on average 39 – 42 millions a year with over 120 mill guaranteed.
  • Now, when you look at the numbers, your will see that Murray stacks up. His numbers are comparable to the others.
  • And since he has produced, it is now time to pay him.
  • According to Spot trac, they calculated Murray’s new contract to be a 6 year 258 million dollar deal.
  • That’s on average 43 million dollars a year!
  • I mean I don’t know if I’d pay that much but look at the position their in
  • Their in the up in up
  • Their is only one Tom Brady
  • no Watson
  • The Rams are maintaining
  • The 49ers are poised to make a splash just you wait
  • Now tell me, if you’re the Cardinals…what would you do?

The opposite side of signing Murray is releasing him and trying to make a mega trade to whom Idk

  • Murray is short,
  • Murray needs to be outside the pocket to be most productive
  • Murray has been leaning on the lob it to Hopkins crutch
  • Murray didn’t show up in the playoffs
  • Colt McCoy was able to throw for 740 yards in the 3 games last season they don’t need Murray
  • There’s no longevity in Murray at QB

I hear the noise but there’s so much upside in Murray. He is the reason why they made it to the Playoffs.

Now Murray had a little beef with Colin Cowherd where Murray advised that Colin questioned his work ethic

I’ll let Colin talk to you about it.

Colin audio:

  • Colin spoke about being all in
  • He talked about superstars allowing themselves to be coached up or embracing humility
  • He cited Brady as one of those individuals and Tim Duncan
  • He cited Aaron Rodgers and Murray as two who sort of go against the grain

What I think

I think there’s some validity to what he’s saying.

  • I do feel that Brady had to fight to be given that starting role (or the Bledsoe injury whatever)
  • Murray was drafted at number 1
  • He has stayed with the pack of high ranking QBs and its contract time
  • That means, you have to pay for the value of product that you have at this point in time
  • You got to the playoffs
  • You got a good talent in Murray
  • Its time to pay or release
  • 7 games winning steak at he beginning of the season
  • Playoffs since 2015
  • A Super Bowl window closing
  • Attitudes can be changed
  • Relationships can be mended
  • Winning is left on the table …. Pay the man

Kliff Kingsbury, Jerry Sullivan, and Murray can get together and make it happen.

Many NFL players are posturing for a big contract and Murray’s actions are no different and reasons are no different

Houston…Many are talking about the Texans making a run Murray

Houston would have to pay up as well.

Cardinals GM Steve Keim said that there’s zero chance Arizona trades Murray

Kiem Said:

“The way we have approached it is we have free agency, we have the draft, and then we will take a deep breath and sort of refocus,” Keim told reporters. “That’s sort of the reason every other player that has been a third-year quarterback has been (extended) in the middle of the summer or late summer. It’s no different for us.

Keim is most likely looking at who they can grab

Who they can release

Who they can restructure

To make way for Murray’s grand contract.

I think that’s a positive statement.

10. New York Jets (via SEA)
