Russell Wilson has been traded to the Super Bowl wishing Denver Broncos. Along with Russell, the Broncos receive a 4th round draft pick. The Seahawks, however, receive Drew Lock, Shelby Harris, Noah Fant, 2 first round picks, 2 second round picks, and a fifth round draft pick.
From the trade, It wouldn’t take a wise man to know that 1. the Broncos went all in for Russell Wilson and 2. the Hawks believe themselves to be in a rebuilding phase. Russell Wilson is undoubtedly an amazing talent and so much so that he’s been deemed a super star.
A super star is exactly what the Broncos need at the QB position. In recent times, the Broncos have made it to the dance with a super star talent (even if Manning was a shell of himself). Adding Wilson with an already studded-out offense and the Broncos are on the right path again (Broncos also have multiple comp picks.)
Is it too late though?
Not necessarily. Russell has a very friendly Quarterback front Office and I believe that this front office can make the right moves to make a Super Bowl run. Russell already has a good offensive line and will no doubt, on his own, call up his offense to start some at home reps.
Would I have liked it if Russell left the Hawks earlier? Absolutely. Russell is getting up there in age and stood with the Hawks even when they repeated failed to address rushing and blocking issues. The Hawks in my opinion have shown themselves incapable of revitalizing themselves. Hopefully, with the Hawks trading Russ there’s a silver lining somewhere.
What do you think? Did the Hawks make a mistake trading Russell Wilson? Is it too late for Russell to make an impact with the Broncos?
