Over the past few weeks, the Buffalo Bills have right themselves, beaten the New England Patriots, and are now set to face the Kansas City Chiefs. This Sunday welcomes the clash of titans whose win may determine the Super Bowl finalist.
The Bills, yet again, face the Chiefs in the Playoffs. Last year, both teams were 15 wins in and were the top three in offense. Both teams were steady for the most part during the season and appeared to face little adversity. This year’s different.
This year, the Chiefs got off to a docile start losing 4 of their first seven games. Pat Mahomes appeared to have been “Figured out,” and a chance to make to the dance was futile. The former Super Bowl champs, however, would not be turned asunder.
By winning 8 games in a row, including an overtime win against the Justin Herbert led Chargers, the resilient Chiefs found themselves back in rhythm and back to business. Pat Mahomes, more specifically, get his swagger back.
Pat started to accumulate interceptions early on this year. Many of the big box sportscasters started to right him off. Prior to this year, Pat had only thrown for double digit interceptions one time. That time, however, was his MVP year. In fact, even though Pat started off as an interception machine, he has thrown for more yards and completions. Hell, this could be considered an MVP season as well!
But not so fast, the Buffalo Bills have hit road blocks and overcame shortfalls this season as well. The first road block was an opening loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Buffalo. The next was a big loss was to their rivals, the Tennessee Titans. After that, their embarrassing loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars; The shellacking by the Indianapolis Colts; The boring loss to the Pats; This team has had a wild ride to the Playoffs.
Josh Allen especially has held steady. Is he perfect? No. But he has put his mind and body on the line when it counted. The young Quarterback has had to put the Bills franchise on his back and has done so by helping them reach the playoffs for the third time in his career.
The Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs are offensive juggernauts. The Bills, however, have the number one defense are playing for keeps this years. This game may be the best game of the year. Two teams, talented throughout their ranks with singleness of purpose.
I’m pulling for the Bills. They have yet to win a Super Bowl and this franchise truly deserving. Still, something tells me that McDermott will be…..McDermott.
So, who are you pulling for in this damn game? lol
