Patriots released Cam “hold up” to make way for Mac Jones.
I know most of us are looking at the New England Patriots like….how dare you!
But deep inside most of knew that this was soon coming.
Cam Newton looked very good during the preseason and so did QB rookie Mac Jones.
In fact, Mac Jones looked impressive dissecting defenses….stepping up in the pocket…keeping his eyes down field and feeling pressure, exploiting the middle the field…there’s no way he would get the starting position over came Newton…
Could he?
Yeet is precisely what the New England Patriots did to Cam Newton.
If you listened to my Podcast you’d know that Cam missed reps over a misunderstanding over CV protocols.
If you listened to my podcast you’d know that every rep missed for Cam was a win for Mac Jones and a loss for Cam Newton.
Within this little amount of time it was possible for Mac Jones to jump over Cam Newton and solidify his starting spot.
Now some may say that Mac Jones played against a bunch of bums who weren’t going to make their own rosters. I would counter and say that what Mac Jones displayed, as far as execution, was on par or even above par to Cam Newton’s. (Mac Jones video and heavily music). Congrats to Mac.
I can’t help but think that this all feels like a punch in the face to us sports fans.
Even Bill Belichick said that everyone was further along this year compared to last. I expected Cam to set the foundation and Mac to build on the foundation during the season. However, I don’t feel like this is a terrible mistake but that it feels a bit rushed.
Now, I heard Stephen A talk about him seeing this coming and I’d like to give that a “BRUH.” When when when you had said that!? In fact most of us we’re like please god no.
