Tony Romo just got the bag yaw!
Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has signed a major deal with CBS. The deal is worth, give or take, $18 million over 10 years (Mike Florio/Profootballtalk.com).
This means, Romo’s pockets would be filled to the tune of $180 million when its all said and done.
Romo spent 13 years in the NFL at the quarterback position.During this time, he’s reached 4 Pro Bowls, went to the playoffs 4x, but never made it to the ‘Big Dance.”
Still, Tony Romo has shown vast charisma and realtime football knowledge while commentating on NFL games. This knowledge has made Romo a highly sought commentator, next to Peyton Manning. So much so, that a news conglomerate like CBS would break out the Brinks truck “for da homie.”
Though a sports commentator getting paid this much money is new to us, Romo is no stranger to the bag.
The QB out of Eastern Illinois has amassed over $127 million in earnings during his NFL career. He’s also made 17 million a year a few times in his career as a Dallas Cowboy.
Now to the hate.
Not all are happy with Romo’s bag. Some NFL stars have chosen to take their eye off the ball and on to Romo’s bag.
Browns wide out Odell Beckham Jr joked about quitting football to be a commentator.
Saints’ wide out Micheal Thomas has been reported saying, “Thank you that’s why we shouldn’t sign the new CBA agreement no way the announcer should be making more than 90% of the players” (Michael Thomas(2/29/2020))
A little research would help Thomas in that CBS, which brought in 14.51 billion in 2018, pays Tony Romo, not the NFL.
NFL players should be focused on their CBA negotiations, which some say is lauded by the lil guy and scorched by the highest earners.
In sum, get that bag Romo!!! Let a hater, be a hater and let a hit dog holla.
