The NFL announced to teams that there would be a private workout for former controversial NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick. This workout would be held Saturday in Atlanta. The workout would consist of interviews and on field work. Also video would be available to all clubs. (Adam Schefter).
So what is said to occur is sorta like a Kaepernick expo.
The NFL and Kaepernick’s reps are attempting to exert control over the workout. The staunch NFL said the workout is on Saturday and aren’t interested in budging.
Still, Kaepernick’s reps have asked for a list of incoming teams who will attend the event. It is unknown if that has been granted to them as of now.
My take:
Colin Kaepernick is three years removed from the game of professional football. In his last season in the NFL, the San Francisco 49ers were 2 – 14; he was 196/331 passing, 2241 yards, 16 TDS, 4 Ints, QBR of 49.5; his last game his was 17/22 passing with 215 yards , 1 TD, and 2 fumbles. (Pro-Football-reference.com).
His stats aren’t impressive at all, however, compared to 1st round 2nd overall draft pick and 1x Pro bowler Mitchell Trubisky (152/239 passing, 1390 yards, 8 TDS, 3 Ints) we can see that Kaepernick was better (still to as precise). (Pro-football-reference.com).
Still, Kaepernick is three years removed from the game. This may not mean a lot to some people, but he still has to adjust to NFL game speed. Kaepernick would, however, have the whole off season to mesh with a new team if picked up. Many defenses are keen on running QBs but what they’ll zero in on is Kaepernick’s rustiness . This should be interesting.
We’ll stay tuned.
Thanks for listening.
