Steelers’ Stephon Tuitt out for season

According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Stephon Tuitt will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn pectoral muscle in Sunday’s win over the Chargers.

“He’s a key part of our defense. I’ll got to war with him every day,” fellow defensive lineman and team captain Cam Heyward told DK Pittsburgh Sports’ Dale Lolley. “I don’t know what’s going to happen. I’m hoping it’s just a little time off and then he comes back to us.”

The Steelers defense was beginning to find their groove in recent weeks and Tuitt was playing a huge role in it.

Through the first six weeks, Tuitt registered 3.5 sack and was on pace to shatter his previous high of 6.5 sacks during the 2015 season.

An already decimated defense just took another huge hit..
