Buffalo Bills clear QB Josh Allen from concussion protocol but will he play?

The Buffalo Bills have cleared Josh Allen from concussion protocol. This announcement comes a week after Allen sustained a concussion against the New England Patriots. Bills, with the use of an independent neurologist, have ensured that Allen has passed all 5 steps of protocol. With this information provided, it becomes a question as to whether he should play or not?

Josh Allen has had limited practice for the week and even though he may have done walkthroughs with the first team, is he actually back to game speed?

My take

Hopefully Coach McDermott will make the best decision, which would be to sit Allen. He has a veteran QB in Matt Barkley. Barkley’s reps with the team at real-time speed is essentially than Allen’s walkthroughs.

The Bills face the Dolphins twice, Eagles, Redskins, and Browns after the bye week. Allen has more than enough time to get back and make an impact.

Special mention

Both fullback Patrick DiMarco and safety Dean Marlowe have returned from concussion protocol as well. I expect the Bills to operate with due safety with its players.
