In an NFL Press Conference Redskins’ Head Coach Jay Gruden announced that he was going with backup QB Colt McCoy:
“ Yeah, I decided a long time ago …..it’s Going to be Colt and uh ….go from there”
Jay Gruden)
In the conference, Gruden spoke about the QB job being McCoy’s to lose. This is after rumors that Jay Gruden wasn’t too high on rookie QB Dwayne Haskins. The choosing of Colt McCoy further fuels the rumors since Colt McCoy has been in 38 NFL games and has a career total of 5,958 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 26 interceptions (Pro-Football-Reference.com).
My Take:
Jay Gruden must be in self-destruct mode. I have nothing against Colt McCoy but Gruden’s unwillingness to start Haskins leads me to believe that this may be a swipe at management for drafting him. Colt McCoy was never high on anyone’s list and hasn’t had an amazing or noteworthy season in the NFL thus far (8 years). If I were in management, I would be looking for my next head coach, like yesterday.
