Top-10 Week 3 NFL Power Rankings

Here are my top-10 power rankings heading into Week 3 of the NFL season:

  1. New England Patriots (2-0)  – After back-to-back convincing victories over the Steelers and Dolphins, New England displayed exactly why they are the number one team in football. Tom Brady has the offense clicking and a defense that is first in the league for fewest points allowed (3). Patriots play the Jets in Week 3, where I full expect them to dominate, again. Trend: –
  2. Dallas Cowboys (2-0) – It was a tough start against the Redskins, but Dak Prescott and the boys found their groove and cruised to a comfortable victory over the ‘Skins. Currently, Dallas is an early 2-0 against the NFC East and look a step above the rest of the teams in their division. Trend: –
  3. Kansas City Chiefs (2-0) – After trailing Oakland after the first quarter, Patrick Mahomes had a historical second quarter, throwing four touchdowns and 278 passing. Mahomes and the offense dominated, as per usual. But it was the defense that displayed some promise after looking sub-par a week ago. Trend: –
  4. Los Angeles Rams (2-0) – Struggling to beat the Panthers in Week 1, the Rams convincingly shut down the Brees-less Saints at home. The Rams offense, led by Jared Goff continued to shine, while the defense too performed as expected – terrific. Trend: –
  5. Green Bay Packers (2-0) – The defense, once again, came through and led the Packers to a hard-fought victory against the Vikings. Through the first two games, the Packers defense has allowed only 12 points, good for second lowest allowed in the league. With the offense struggling to put up points, the defense will need to continue to perform like it has the first two weeks. Trend: –
  6. Baltimore Ravens (2-0) – Coming into the season, not many people believed Baltimore was going to start off as well as they are. Led by “NoT a QuaRTeRBacK” Lamar Jackson, their underrated offense has the Ravens’ slowly becoming favorites in the AFC North. Week 3 against the powerhouse Chiefs will be a good test for them. Trend: –
  7. Seattle Seahawks (2-0) – The Seahawks have quietly put together a Super Bowl contending team that nobody around the league seems to be talking about, but I’m sure they’re okay with them. Seattle has earned this two hard-fought victories so far, and will look to stay perfect at home against New Orleans. Trend: –
  8. San Francisco 49ers (2-0) – Although the 49ers are yet to play a good team, convincing victories in both games has earned San Francisco a top-10 spot in the rankings. Jimmy G has the 49ers rollin’ and appear poised to throw a curveball on the NFC West. Watch out Rams and Seahawks!
  9. Minnesota Vikings (1-1) – Even with the loss to the Packers, the Vikings are still a very good football team. Their offense, still very good. Their defense, still good.  If it was possible to take away a few turnovers, the Vikings and Packers positions in the ranking could easily be swapped. Trend: –
  10. Philadelphia Eagles (1-1) – The injury bug has destroyed Philadelphia this season and it is only Week 3. Still, the Eagles have a deep roster. With Carson Wentz still healthy, you can’t count Philadelphia out of a game. It’s likely Philadelphia will hover around the middle of the pack until they get healthy, which means a lot of coming and going in the top-10 rankings. Trend: –
