Cowboys’ Taco Charlton released

According to NFL’s Ian Rapoport, the Dallas Cowboys are releasing former first-round selection and pass-rusher Taco Charlton.

Charlton reportedly asked the Cowboys for his release months before the season began, and the team agreed it was best to move on and facilitate a trade for the 2017 first-round selection. Although the Cowboys reached out to multiple teams during the offseason, nothing formalized, so Charlton decided to take to social media to facilitate his release.

All he tweeted was “free me,” but later deleted the tweet.

Today, the Cowboys granted his release to make room for the addition of Robert Quinn, returning from a two-game suspension.

Charlton, 24, has been inactive for the first two games of the season and was clearly unhappy with his role – or lack thereof – with the Cowboys.

Charlton never lived up the expectations the Cowboys expected from him when he was selected by the club with the 28th selection in 2017. The former Wolverine has battled numerous injuries in his early career and never really developed and matured like the Cowboys were expecting.

Sometimes it’s best to admit when you made a mistake. The Cowboys made a mistake and are now coming to terms with it years later.

The AB effect: it just goes to show, if you want to get released from your team, go on social media and you will definitely get your way!
